Introduction A county seat of Greenville County, Greenville is located in the northwestern corner of the state of South Carolina and covers a total area of Greenville has a total area of 67.7 km² (26.1 mi²) of which 67.5 km² (26.1 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. Greenville and the surrounding areas, situated at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, are commonly referred to as the Upstate. Greenville is in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains and the highest point is in Sassafras Mountain, near the northern part of Pickens County. It is centrally located between Atlanta, GA and Charlotte, NC, and between Miami, FL and New York, NY.
Paris Mountain, the second most prominent ridge in the area, is also home to many of the area's television and radio stations' towers. Greenville experineces moderate climate with a maximum temperature of 96 degrees iin July and a minimumof 35 degrees in January.
